Cylinder leakage tester

 Caution

Risk of injury to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing engine oil

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

Remove/install

Bring engine up to operating temperature (approx. 80°C)

 Only check cylinder leakage when the engine is at normal operating temperature.

Remove spark plugs



Detach front circulation pump for low-temperature water circuit and place with attached lines and hoses to one side

Detach oil filling cover

Place piston of cylinder to be checked at top of top dead center (TDC) (ignition TDC) using a TDC detection device

 Crank engine at crankshaft center bolt in direction of engine rotation.

Pressurize cylinder with compressed air and read off pressure loss on cylinder leakage tester (01)

Cylinder leaktightness: Permissible losses at pistons and piston rings
