Retrofitting coolant preheater

Removing

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding from hot coolant which splashes out. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open the cooling system unless the coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and allow the pressure to release. Do not pour coolant into containers for drinks.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothes, and eye protection.

Unscrew plug (1) at left of engine block



 Press wrench socket firmly onto the hexagon

Screw coolant preheater (20) into the engine block



 Use new O-ring

Attach electric cable with the two hose fixtures (2) to the engine breather pipe (2a)

Connect both hose fixtures part no.
115 995 03 65 and 000 995 23 65 to each other before installing

Attach further routing along the cable rail at the intake manifold with the cable strap (3)

Cable strap part no. 005 995 10 90

Attach at the fluid reservoir of the power steering with the hose fixtures (4)

Connect both hose fixtures part no.
000 995 36 65 and 000 995 63 65 to each other before installing

Attach electric cable at the cable harness at the wheelhousing with 3 hose strap fixtures (5)

Screw together retaining spring (a) with cap (b) and bracket (6)

9

Install completed bracket (6) below the fixture for the cooling pipes of the power steering

Unscrew securing bolt (7) for bracket for this step

10

Attach connector (8) of electric cable into retaining spring, fit on cap (b)

Pour in coolant
