Remove

Remove each front wheel.

Remove wheel hub cover at center of removed light-alloy wheel.

Mount front wheel.

 Two wheel bolts are sufficient.

Operate parking brake.

Release collar nut of front axle shaft.

Do not move the vehicle anymore with unfastened collar nut.
Otherwise, the wheel bearing may be damaged.

Release parking brake.

Remove front wheel.

Remove torsion bar linkage of front stabilizer from suspension strut.

 Do not completely remove torsion bar linkage.

Remove torsion bar linkage of front axle level sensor from transverse control arm (1).

If the left transverse control arm (1) is removed.

 To do so, unclip torsion bar linkage.

Remove torsion bar linkage of air suspension level sensor from respective transverse control arm (1).

 To do so, unclip torsion bar linkage.

Remove screws (2, 3).

Remove collar nut of front axle shaft.

Release front axle shaft.

If front axle shaft is stuck:



Push front axle shaft out of wheel hub.

Remove transverse control arm (1) from integral carrier.

Remove front axle shaft from wheel hub.

Remove nut (4).

Remove transverse control arm (1).

Check

Check bearing of transverse control arm (1) for damage.

If damage is present,



Replace transverse control arm (1).

Check supporting joint of transverse control arm (1) for damage.

If damage is present,



Replace transverse control arm (1).

Check sealing bellows of transverse control arm (1) for damage.

If damage is present,



Replace transverse control arm (1).



Install

Insert transverse control arm (1) into integral carrier and screw in screws (2, 3).

 Front screw, transverse control arm to front axle carrier/integral carrier

Install front axle shaft into wheel hub.

Attach transverse control arm (1) onto steering knuckle.



 To do so, clip in torsion bar linkage.
The torsion bar linkage must audibly engage on the ball head on the transverse control arm (1).

Attach torsion bar linkage of front axle level sensor at transverse control arm (1).

 To do so, clip in torsion bar linkage.

Attach collar nut of front axle shaft.

 Tighten collar nut lightly by hand.

Mount front wheel.

Tighten and secure collar nut of front axle shaft.

When locking the collar nut through the opening in the wheel hub cover, use suitable tool and proceed cautiously.
Otherwise, the light alloy wheel may be damaged.
