Remove/install left cylinder head cover

Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Only pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Remove air filter housing

Remove ignition coils

Remove oil separator

Remove front cover at cylinder head (8)

Disconnect electrical connector (5)

Disconnect electrical connector (6) and remove at fuel distributor (9)

Release fuel pressure over service valve (3)

Disconnect fuel line (10) at the fuel distributor (9) and seal connections with suitable stop plugs

 Catch escaping fuel with an absorbent rag.



Remove screw/bolt (12) on lifting eye (11).



Remove feed duct (2) on cylinder head cover (1)



Disconnect electrical connector (4)

Place feed duct (2) to one side and secure with cable tie

Remove cylinder head cover bolts (1) in the reverse order of the tightening procedure

Detach and remove cylinder head cover (1) carefully from cylinder head (8)

 Heat up cylinder head cover (1) if necessary in the area of the sealing surface using a hot air gun and pry off the cylinder head (8) using a suitable tool.

 Installation: Do not use any sharp edged tools or emery cloth to clean otherwise damages can occur to the sealing surfaces.

 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head cover (1) and on cylinder head (8) using adhesive and sealant remover.

Apply sealant to cylinder head cover (1). Observe application of sealant.



Remove cap (7) from cylinder head (8)

 Installation: Check cap (7), replace if necessary. Only push in cap (7) after tightening the cylinder head cover (1).

Install in the reverse order

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check engine in the area of the cylinder head cover (1) and front cover on cylinder head (8) for leaks
