We would like to inform you that the required navigation update media for the COMAND MultiYear Update Program were previously made available by push shipment (see SI82.85P0019A).
This "push shipment" process will now be replaced by the COMAND Download Manager process for dealers, whereby the latest map data will be available significantly earlier for free of charge map updates.
System requirements for your PC
Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 8.1 Classic and Windows 10 are supported.
Required memory preset (local, external or in network): from 3 GB up to a maximum of 160 GB, depending on the required map data.
Internet connection is required.
Preparation
1 In case you do not already have COMAND Download Manager installed, please proceed as follows:
Log in to ODUS at https://odus.i.daimler.com/.
Navigate to Media & Service Link Download Manager. This is where you will also find the detailed operator's manual. Following this manual is recommended for important information regarding first-time use and other detailed function descriptions.
Download the zip file available there and extract this to a destination of your choice.
2 Keep an appropriate USB flash drive ready for the download and then data transfer to the customer vehicle. The USB flash drive must be connected to the computer to begin a download. You will find additional notes on correctly selecting the required USB flash drive in the "Storage medium" section.
Information for use and download times
To use the COMAND Download Manager, ensure that there is an Internet connection.
The map data obtained via the Download Manager are always up-to-date.
The size of the map data to be downloaded can vary significantly depending on the NTG, region and version. The data transfer rate primarily depends on your Internet connection/the performance of your computer. For large amounts of data of approx. 40 GB, the average download time is 10 to 11 h.
After the map data has been downloaded and written onto the USB flash drive, updates can be performed in the vehicle as usual. The activation codes are still obtained via VeDoc (see SI82.85-P-0018A).
Please note: COMAND Download Manager allows the downloaded data to be saved locally so that this data does not need to be downloaded again before it is written onto other storage media.
Note: Please only transfer the downloaded data to the storage medium using the COMAND Download Manager. Manually transferring the data may lead to the update not functioning in the vehicle.
1 Please do not remove the storage medium during the download process under any circumstances. The storage medium may become damaged.
2 If the download process is interrupted by e. g. a dropped Internet connection or due to other circumstances, this process can be resumed. Please note that the Download Manager may need to be ended and restarted for the download process to be resumed.
The login data matches the ODUS login data for the "old" ODUS system (ODUS 1.0, predecessor of the current system), which has been deactivated in the meantime. It is currently not possible to request a new login for the "old" ODUS.
If there is no account for the "old" ODUS1.0, then you can temporarily log in to the COMAND Download Manager using the following standard access data:
User name: DLM
Password: DLM
Storage medium
Please use your own USB flash drive, to be obtained from your local electronics retailer, for the download and update process. Using a certified USB flash drive is recommended. The size of the USB flash drive is to be selected depending on the map data required. You can find map data size specifications in the Download Manager by selecting the desired map data in the table listing under "File size". You can find specifications for the appropriate flash drive format in the same location under "File system".
Depending on the size and NTG platform, the USB flash drive must have a specific format (an overview on this topic can be found in the operator's manual). A download will only begin if the USB flash drive has an appropriate size and format. Please note that the actual storage capacity of a USB flash drive is always less than the rated capacity specified on the USB flash drive or the packaging.
If it is necessary to format the USB flash drive, you can find detailed information on how to do this in the operator's manual.
Make sure that the USB flash drive is logged-in as a "removable storage device" on the PC (not e.g. as a "local storage device"). If necessary, use another USB flash drive.
Map update availability
The latest map update (for USB mediumbased map data) per NTG and region is available for download through the COMAND Download Manager. Map updates currently provided on DVDs are not available through the Download Manager.
You can receive information regarding the currently available map versions within the Download Manager itself (only the most current map data is available) or via VeDoc to view the most current available map data version.
