Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Unscrew cap from coolant expansion reservoir

Lift/jack up vehicle

Drain off about 3 l of coolant at cooler drain valve



 Collect the coolant in a clean container.

 Installation: Replace the drained off coolant quantity up to the marking on coolant expansion reservoir.

Detach coolant hose (3) on cooler (4) and place to one side

 Installation: Check clamp and coolant hose (3) for damage and replace if necessary.

Remove viscous fan clutch (2)

Take out fan shroud (1) in the upward direction.

Install in the reverse order

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear buttoned-up and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Test run engine and check engine for leaks in the area of the coolant hose (3)
