According to the specifications of ECER 110, the composite material gas reservoirs installed in the above-mentioned vehicles are designed for a service life of 20 years as of the production date and must then be replaced.

According to ECER 110 and national legislation, regular inspection of the gas system must take place during this period, e.g. as part of the gas system inspection (GAP) in Germany. The check takes the form of a visual inspection only and must be performed by persons and authorities authorized to do so.

In order to rule out damage to the gas reservoir or valve, we expressly point out that further checks which require removal of the valve and gas reservoir are not authorized by MercedesBenz.

Hydraulic pressure tests, like those carried out in Italy on steel gas reservoirs, must not be performed on gas reservoirs made of composite material.
This can result in initial damage to the gas reservoirs. In this case, contact the respective technical workshop manager.

When installing parts, it must be ensured that the gas reservoir is only transported to the vehicle in the supplied protective packaging and that the gas reservoir is handled with care.
