For a damage profile in which the piston (1) is cracked or broken all cylinder liners are to be replaced along with the pistons (1) and connecting rods and bearings.

However, if the extent of the damage on the engine means that a repair is not feasible from a technical point of view, then the engine is to be replaced.

Because of technical modifications to the engine, this procedure is only valid for engines up to engine end number 682921.

As of engine end number 682922 the least expensive repair that will rectify the damage is to be conducted in line with warranty guidelines.
