Function requirements
A SIM card is inserted in the front telecommunications control unit (N112) and is authorized. If there is a system fault or there is no authorized SIM card available after the system circuit 15R is energized, the red LEDs in the emergency call buttons will light up. After the circuit 15R is energized, the system is ready for automatic crash detection. After the circuit is 15R de-energized, the system normally switches off. If the TELE AID function is triggered, the system remains active as long there is voice communication with the emergency call headquarters. A manual call placed by pressing the emergency call button always functions from circuit 30.
Basic functions
Sending emergency call (SMS)
Placing a call in hands-free mode
Keeping accident data available and, if necessary, securely transmitting them
Cyclic self-diagnosis
Self-test
When the circuit 15R is energized, the control unit (N112) performs a self-test. During the test (approx. 3.5 s) the red LEDs in the emergency call pushbuttons illuminate.
Ending an emergency call
A call is normally ended by the emergency call headquarters.
A call is ended by the control unit (N112) after three unsuccessful attempts to place a call have been made.
Procedure during an emergency call
An automatic crash detection is processed by the ARMADA 20 control unit. The control unit (N112) receives the crash information by means of a direct, digital crash signal from the restraint system control unit (N2/7). A redundant signal is sent over CAN-B. In ECE vehicles, this crash information automatically triggers an emergency call. This occurs no matter how severe the detected crash actually is.
