The vehicle can be locked or unlocked centrally with the key from the driver's door and the tailgate or rear door.

Driver's door:

When the driver's door is closed, it is always possible to operate the central locking. (Turning key to right to stop - locking, turning key to left to stop - unlocking). When the inner door handle is pulled the vehicle unlocks centrally. When the driver's door is open it is not possible to lock the vehicle centrally from the inside (anti-lockout protection).

Passenger door/tailgate/rear door

The central locking can be operated with the key or the interior actuation (as on the driver's door) when the door is closed. If the inner door handle on an open door is actuated the other doors are locked only after this door is closed.

Function sequence on example of unlocking driver's door:

When the key is turned to the left in the lock cylinder the command switch in the left front door CL actuator (M14/6) is actuated. This switch signals to the central locking control module (N60) via a control line the end position of the lock, "unlocked".

The central locking control module (N60) actuates the motors connected in parallel of the remaining actuators and unlocks the locks via the relay in the control module. In addition to the command switches present in the actuators, a microswitch is installed on each rotary tumbler which signals the status "door open" to the central locking control module (N60). In addition the motor circuit is interrupted in the driver and passenger doors. The central locking control module (N60) can therefore recognize the following states via the command switches:

Unlocked

Locked

Door open

Door closed

"Door open" recognition

If one of the doors is not closed completely during the locking operation this is automatically indicated to the user by the automatic unlocking feature. If this is repeated a second time within 5 seconds the system locks/unlocks/locks as an error message. If the open door is then closed it is locked automatically.

"Asynchronous" recognition

If one of the actuators does not reach the end position after locking the doors are unlocked. If the doors are locked within 5 seconds they are locked-unlocked-locked.

The locking procedure is performed analogously to the unlocking procedure. By turning the key to the right the second position of the command switch is actuated. The switch signals to the central locking control module (N60) the end position of the lock "locked" via a second control line
