MODEL 414.700 with CODE (EZ8) Parktronic system (PTS)

Procedure

The Parktronic system (PTS) control module conducts a self-test after ignition is switched on. It tests the control module, the sensors and the leads to the sensors.

After the self-test is completed, all the active warning displays are actuated fully for about 1 s, in other words all the segments and the frames of the active warning displays light up.

System o.k.:

The frames of the active warning displays light up.

Operational fault:

Illumination of frame, of all red segments on all active warning displays

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If a warning indicator receives no valid signals within 1/2 s of the ignition being switched on, the two red segments of the relevant warning indicator light up, a warning tone (lasting approx. 3 s) is activated and after 20 s the warning indicator is switched off.

During operation the control module performs system tests at regular intervals in which components of the Parktronic system (PTS) are tested.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Parktronic system distinguishes between a malfunction and a fault.

Operational problem

If an operational fault occurs when the system is activated, this is indicated by the red segments and the frame of all the active warning displays lighting up. There is no warning tone.

An operational fault may be caused by a defect at a component (e.g. sensor, warning display or PTS control module), an open circuit in the wiring, or by temporary interference from the outside (e.g. compressed air hammer at a construction site, steam jet or induction coil at a traffic light).

If a malfunction exists for less than 2 min, it is not recognized as a fault and is not stored in the fault memory.

Faults

If a malfunction exists for longer than 2 min (20 s with a diagnostic unit connected), then it is identified as a fault and is stored in the fault memory of the control module.

The fault is indicated by the lighting of the red segments in all active warning indicators in conjunction with a warning tone of 3s duration.

The warning indicators are switched off after indicating the fault for 20 s.

Data transfer errors to the warning indicators:

The warning indicators and corresponding leads cannot be tested by the control module because data transfer occurs only in the direction of the warning indicators (no entry in fault memory).

If a warning indicator receives no valid signals within 1/2 s of the ignition being switched on, the two red segments of the relevant warning indicator light up, a warning tone (lasting approx. 3 s) is activated and after 20 s the warning indicator is switched off.

If faults or errors occur during operation, the last display is retained until further valid signals are received.
