Oil cooling
The oil cooling system lowers the temperature of the transmission oil thereby preventing any overheating damage to the automatic transmission.
Function sequence for oil cooling system
The transmission oil is drawn out of the oil pan by a mechanical pump in the automatic transmission and then pumped via the transmission oil feed line (A) to the oil thermostat (D). At a transmission oil temperature < 90 °C, the oil thermostat (D) directs the transmission oil back to the automatic transmission via the transmission oil return line (B). At a transmission oil temperature > 90 °C, the oil thermostat (D) opens and the transmission oil flows through the oil cooler (C) before it flows back through the transmission oil return line (B) to the automatic transmission.
