1 Automatic transmission
G13 Pulse generator
S88 Starter lockout switch
S89 Automatic transmission segment switch
M50 Segment switch servomotor
S4 Automatic transmission program switch
Preselection of shift settings
The shift settings "1, 2, 3, 4, N, R" and "P" can be preselected by pressing the appropriate key on the program switch (S4). The control module integrated into the program switch (S4) sends a signal to the segment switch (S89). The control module receives the signal back from the segment switch (S89) and then actuates the servomotor (M50) which engages the preselected shift setting on the transmission (1) via the selector lever Bowden cable
Mechanical key block
The keypad on the program switch is mechanically blocked. The "N" key must be pressed before shifting from a forward gear to reverse or vice versa.
Automatic Park selection
When the ignition is switched off (terminal 15), the control module selects the Park position within a run-on time of approx.8 sec., regardless of the selected transmission mode. If the ignition is switched off while the vehicle is still coasting to a stop, the run-on time only commences when its speed drops to less than 2 km/h.
Starting the engine
The engine can only be started when the "P" key is pressed.
Run-on time
The run-on time commences when the ignition is switched off and the speed is less than 2 km/h. During this time the control module continues to receive power. When the run-on time has elapsed, the touch shift is switched off.
Shift setting block
The downshift from 4th to 3rd gear occurs at a speed of approx.81 - 75 km/h.
The downshift from 3rd to 2nd or 1st gear occurs at a speed of approx.53 - 47 km/h.
The downshift to reverse gear or Park position occurs only at a speed of less than 2 km/h.
The shift from forwards to reverse is blocked electrically by the control module.
The speed signal is sent by the pulse generator (G13) to the program switch (S4) and the instrument cluster.
