Function
During exhaust gas turbocharging the flow energy of the
exhaust gases (C) are used for driving the turbocharger (110).
The turbocharger (110) draws in fresh air at the compressor inlet (A) and passes it as precompressed air through the compressor outlet (B),
the charge air pipe (110/6), the charge air cooler (110/2) and the
charge air distribution pipe (110/1, engine 611) or the charge air distribution pipe integrated in the intake module (1, engine 668) to the individual engine cylinders.
As a result the engine torque and power output are boosted.
