Location

The electric vehicle communications module control unit is located on the right under the instrument panel.

Task

Das electric vehicle communications module control unit allows exchange of data between the vehicle and the "Daimler Vehicle Backend". This data exchange takes place wirelessly over the mobile telephone network.

Parallel to this type of transmission data can also be transmitted over the charging cable. The vehicle must be connected to the internet to do this over an intelligent charge column or a Powerline socket adapter.

A connection to the "Vehicle Homepage" can be established over the internet. The "Vehicle Homepage" allows one to to configure various functions of the vehicle using a modern smart phone or PC . For example the preclimatizing of the vehicle can be activated from a distance or a new departure time can be set. Furthermore the current charge level of the high-voltage battery (G5), the probable range or the charging time required can be queried.

These tasks are subdivided as follows:

Reading in of signals

Evaluation of input factors

Transmitting signals

Reading in of signals

The electric vehicle communications module control unit reads in the following data for this via the electric vehicle-CAN (VAN EV) which are transmitted from the drivetrain control unit (N127):

status information concerning the preclimatization

period up to departure

relative time up to full charging

information concerning the charging process

information concerning the range

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor whereupon the relevant signals are then issued.

Transmitting signals

The electric vehicle communications module control unit transmits the following data via the electric vehicle-CAN to the drivetrain control unit:

internet connection is available

default settings for the preclimatization

point in time of departure
