Function

The throttle valve actuator controls the idle speed by altering the position of the throttle valve. It is actuated by the ME-SFI control unit.

The ME-SFI control unit regulates the idle speed according to the input signals at varying engine loads (e.g. refrigerant compressor (A9) switched on).

 The idle speed can be influenced with STAR DIAGNOSIS.

AC compressor

To prevent the speed from falling when the refrigerant compressor is switched on in idle, the speed is increased prior to switching on the refrigerant compressor by increasing the opening angle of the throttle valve by the motor electronics control unit .

For the purpose of idle speed control, the motor electronics control unit evaluates the signals from the following components:

 Hot film mass air flow sensor

 Camshaft Hall sensor

 Coolant temperature sensor

 Accelerator pedal sensor

 Crankshaft rpm sensor

 Throttle valve actuator
