1 | Position the vehicle wheels on the turning plates, driving the vehicle straight ahead
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
2 | Start the engine | ||
3 | Actuate the steering lock switch of the auxiliary steered axle wheels | Do not move the steering. The steering cylinder centers automatically.
4 | Turn off engine | ||
5 | Put the hydraulic cylinder in the working center position and leave it in this position during the entire process of adjustment
Check the alignment of the working position of the hydraulic cylinder.
6 | Mechanically align the hydraulic cylinder | After mechanical alignment, calibrate the hydraulic cylinder by means of Star Diagnosis.
| |||
| Additional steering axle, function check via actuations | ||
Learning auxiliary steered axle (ZL) system
7 | Checking the camber measurement
Topical note | Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts
The camber is a result of construction and cannot be adjusted, if necessary, check the components.
Camber | |||
8 | Checking the caster measurement | The caster measurement is a result of construction and cannot be adjusted, if necessary, check the components.
Convergence | |||
9 | Check the king pin inclination | The kingpin inclination is a result of construction and cannot be adjusted, if necessary, check the components.
Master pin inclination/vertical divergence
10 | Check the toe-in and, if necessary, adjust with the help of a wrench in the groove (10.5) | After adjusting the toe-in, tighten the clamp to the specified torque.
Wheel alignment/convergence
Clamps in the connection bar terminals
11 | Check the measured thread amount of the tie-rod articulation
12 | Measure the lateral displacement of the axle
Allowed side displacement of the front axle and rear axle |
