Torque meter

Determine/adjust friction torque at drive pinion gear

Determine

1

Attach torque meter at drive flange (1) of drive pinion, turn with approx. 50 rpm and read off friction torque.

2

Note friction torque.

After assembly operations on the drive flange (1),the friction torque may exceed the determined value by a maximum of 0.2 Nm. If it is below this, it must be adjusted. If it is above this, the rear axle differential must be replaced.

Adjust

3

To adjust the friction torque, increase the tightening torque of the collar nut by 10 Nm to the output torque .

Never correct friction torque by releasing the collar nut.
Otherwise the drive pinion may be damaged.

4

Check friction torque.

If necessary, repeat adjustment until the friction torque is within the tolerance. If the friction torque is still outside the tolerance after adjusting several times, the rear axle differential must be replaced.
