Fix steering wheel in center position.

Remove engine mount with integrated left engine carrier.

Remove engine stabilizer mount from axle drive module (5).

Remove universal joint (7) from steering gear.

 To do so, unscrew screw (9) and remove universal joint (7) with steering shaft and place outside of working area. Do not remove universal joint (7) from steering shaft.

Remove bolts (8) of steering gear.

 When doing so, counterhold nuts.

Release steering gear and slightly push towards rear.

 Rear bolt (3) must be accessible.

Support axle drive module (5).



Remove screws (2).

Remove screw/bolts (3).

Lower axle drive module (5).


Do not lower axle drive module (5) too far.
Damage to coolant hoses and/or to coolant connections in front area of axle drive module (5) can otherwise occur.

Remove mounting support (1).

 For this purpose, remove bolts (4) and remove mounting support (1) from axle drive module (5).



Check

Check elastomer bearings of mounting support (1) for damage.

If damage is detected



replace elastomer bearing.

Remove/install elastomer bearings of mounting support for axle drive module

Install

Install mounting support (1).

 For this purpose, position mounting support (1) on supporting frame (6) and slightly tighten bolts (3).

Lift axle drive module (5).

 Lift axle drive module (5) until bolts (4) can be screwed in.

Lightly tighten bolts (4) by hand.

Tighten screws(3, 4).

Screw in screw/bolts (2).

Move steering gear into installation position.

Screw in bolts (8) of steering gear.

 When doing so, counterhold nuts.

 Screw, steering gear to front axle carrier/integral carrier

Install universal joint (7) at steering gear.


Fasten universal joint (7) correctly on steering gear. The groove (arrow) on the shaft of the steering gear must align with the bore in the universal joint (7).
Otherwise the screw (9) cannot be screwed in correctly.


The shown direction of installation of the screw (9) must be observed.
Otherwise malfunctions and damage may occur due to an incorrectly fastened universal joint (7).

If universal joint (7) was separated from steering shaft,



Reattach universal joint (7) to steering shaft.

 When doing so, insert the guide groove of universal joint (7) precisely into the steering shaft.

Install engine stabilizer mount at axle drive module (5).
