Open engine hood and move to vertical position

Remove upper radiator crossmember

Remove electric fan

Remove bottom section of soundproofing

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Drain coolant

 Detach coolant return hose (4) from bottom right of radiator (1).

Remove charge air hose (14) on right charge air cooler (13)

Remove charge air cooler (13)

Remove left radiator trim panel (9) and right radiator trim panel (11)

 Installation: Use new retaining clips (10).

Close off transmission oil cooling oil line (2, 3) on radiator (1)

 Collect escaping transmission oil and seal off connections.

 Installation: Use new sealing rings.

 Union nut of transmission oil line at radiator

 Banjo bolt, transmission oil line to oil cooler

Close off steering oil cooling oil line (7, 8) on cooler (1)

 Collect escaping transmission oil and seal off connections.

 Installation: Use new sealing rings.

 Banjo bolt connecting leak oil line to radiator

Disconnect coolant return hose (4), coolant feed hose (6) and coolant vent hose (5) on cooler (1)

Remove retaining clips (16) for damping mount (17) at the back of the radiator (1) and remove shock-absorber mount journal (15)

 Installation: Use new retaining clips.

Unscrew capacitor (12) from radiator

 Secure capacitor with cable straps Avoid deformations of the refrigerant line that are at the capacitor

Pull out radiator (1) from rubber mounts in the front frame crossmember and take out of the engine compartment

 Remove damping mount (17)

 Installation: Pay attention to correct location of the damping mount (17) between capacitor and radiator.

Install in the reverse order

Pour in coolant

Fill power steering pump

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.

Bleed steering system

 Top up steering gear oil if necessary.

Check air conditioning system, oil and coolant connections for leaks with engine running

Check oil level in automatic transmission, correct if necessary

 Top up transmission oil if necessary.
