Remove/install

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Drain coolant

At radiator

Unplug connector (11), pull off locking element (10) and pull out coolant temperature sensor (9)

Installation: Replace seal (8).

Detach air intake hose at charge air manifold

Detach coolant hoses (4, 6) at coolant thermostat housing (1)

Check condition of coolant hose; replace if necessary.
Replace clamps (5, 7).

Take off bracket of fuel line (12) at coolant thermostat housing (1)

Unbolt cover (14) at oil filter housing

Detach coolant thermostat housing (1) at cylinder head

The coolant thermostat is integrated in the housing.

Installation: Install new gasket (2), clean sealing surfaces.

Install in the reverse order

Inspect cooling system for leaks
