Detach ground line from battery

Open service flap on fender liner in right fender

Remove engine air intake duct upstream of air filter

Detach charge air hose from turbocharger and place to one side

Check sealing rings and catch springs for damage, thoroughly clean connections but do not grease and ensure exact seating of the catch springs.
Leaks can occur on the engine otherwise.

Remove fan unit

Remove heat shield above turbocharger

Remove bottom engine compartment paneling

Remove poly-V belt (1)

Detach contact protection from alternator (G2)

Detach electrical line of terminal B+ to alternator (G2)

Nut, circuit B+ to alternator

Detach electrical connection (2) from alternator (G2)

Detach bracket for refrigerant line (3) from alternator (G2)

Disconnect electrical line (4) at A/C compressor (A9) and unclip

14

Detach A/C compressor (A9) from oil pan (5) and place to one side with attached lines

Remove alternator screw/bolts (G2)

Bolt, alternator to timing case

Take alternator (G2) upwards and out

Install in the reverse order
