| Remove and install | ||
| Before disassembling the turbocharger, we recommend referring to the operation inconsistencies. | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury or property damage when starting the engine with the gearbox engaged, and when servicing with the engine warmed up and running
1 | Turn off the main switch or disconnect the negative battery cable | Loosen the screw of the negative cable on the stringer, avoid releasing on the battery terminals.
2.1 | Tilt the hood and lock it with the safety rod | Vehicles 384.0, 386.0, 694.0, 695.0
2.2 | Remove the engine hood inside the cab, releasing the side clamps | Vehicles 384.0, 688.1, 694.0, 695.0.
Install: Inspect the rubber gasket and replace it if necessary.
2.3 | Open the front hood of the cabin | Vehicles with chassis 688.1. Actuate the locking lever under the dashboard, on the left-hand side, and lift the hood.
2.4 | Tilt the cab | Vehicles 682.0, 693.0.
3 | Loosen the screws and remove the thermal protection | Engines 374.9.
All self-locking nuts should be replaced once removed.
4 | Remove the air line from the filter to the turbocharger (3) | Install: Inspect the hoses to the lines and clamps; if necessary, replace them.
5 | Remove the turbocharger outlet pipe (4) | Install: Inspect the sealing ring and, if necessary, replace it.
6 | Loosen the nuts (6) and remove the exhaust pipe (5a) | Install: Apply grease resistant to high temperatures to the studs and nuts. Apply the recommended torque and replace the gasket (374.9 engines).
7 | Remove the outlet manifold with the motor brake mechanism
Install: Lubricate the studs and nuts with grease resistant to high temperatures, and apply the recommended torque.
| |||
8.1 | Loosen the screws (14a) and remove the thermal protection (14) | Engines 377.9.
8.2 | Loosen the clamp and remove the pneumatic line (15) from the turbocharger relief valve | Engines 372.96, 377.94.
Install: Inspect the lines and clamps; if necessary, replace them.
9 | Loosen the screws (8) and remove the oil pressure line (7) | Install: Replace the gasket and washers.
10 | Loosen the screws (10), the hose clamp (11) and remove the oil return line (9) | For Engine 374.9, if necessary, remove the screw (12).
Install: Inspect the clamps and the hose; if necessary, replace them.
Replace the gasket and sealing washers.
11 | Loosen the screws (13) and remove the turbocharger (1) | Install: Lubricate the studs and nuts with grease resistant to high temperatures, and apply the recommended torque.
12 | Install in reverse order | Warning: after installing a new or refurbished turbocharger, we recommend the following procedures: - Apply motor oil to the lubrication hole and rotate the rotor in both directions until the bearings are well lubricated. - Make sure that the air filter is in perfect condition for use. - Place the injection pump lever in the stop position and crank the vehicle engine through the starter until the pressure gauge indicates oil pressure, or purge the lubrication system using the proper equipment. - Run the engine at idle and check for leaks. - Keep the engine at idle for 3-4 minutes before increasing the acceleration.
Purge the engine lubrication system
Do not operate the starter for longer than 10 seconds; If the oil pressure is not restored within this period, wait 30 seconds and repeat the operation. |
