Test compression pressure

Remove/install

1

Warm up engine to normal operating temperature

 Check compression pressure when the engine is at normal operating temperature (around 80° C).

Remove/install injectors



Checking

Screw test adapter (4) into the injector bore of the cylinder to be tested

Connect compression recorder (1) with high-pressure hose and connector (3).



Connect vacuum pump at stopping cell.

 The control rod of the injection pump must be set to zero output so that no fuel is injected.

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Crank engine with starter

Model 901, 902, 903, 904

 To check the compression pressure, crank engine by at least 9 revolutions.



Carry out test procedure at remaining cylinders in the same way

 Always vent the compression recorder before releasing the quick coupling.

Compare measurements obtained with the specified pressures

If the pressure is below the lowest compression pressure or the permissible difference between individual cylinders 

Check cylinders for leaks
