Preliminary actions

1

Park the vehicle on a flat and level plan and shim the wheels to prevent the involuntary displacement of the vehicle

Disconnect the negative battery cable or turn off the main switch

 For vehicles equipped with electronic engines, always follow the recommendations for the care that should be taken regarding the electronics of the vehicle.

Danger!

Risk of injury by trapping and crushing when tilting the cabin

During cab tilting forward and back, do not enter into the tilting area and take preventive measures to prevent the entry of unauthorized persons. Always tilt the cab to its final position and lock it with the safety device.

Remove

In the upper shifter, lock the selection and engagement levers in neutral (gearbox neutral) with the specified screw. It must be screwed through the hole

 The screw should be fully screwed, so that the upper shifter, which is part of the shift lever, remains locked throughout the lubrication operation.

In the gearbox, remove the two ball terminals (8) screwed in the respective selection and engagement levers

Release the nut (9) and remove the ball terminals from the cable ends

Loosen nuts (3) and lock washers that regulate and secure the cables onto the support

Cut the plastic clamps indicated by the arrows and remove the protective hoods (6) from the cable ends. Remove the seals (7) too

 The protective hoods were applied in series from chassis with the final number..... 202298.



Clean

Gently clean the cable ends and cable and cover threads

 Carry out dry cleaning.

 Thoroughly clean the threads of the ball terminal in order to receive chemical lock in the assembly.



Prepare the lubricating mix

Separate the amount of fluid (silicone oil) to be used

 Note the amount of fluid.

 Observe the recommended fluid specification.

Separate the amount of grease to be mixed

 Note the amount of grease.

 Add the specific grease to the silicone and shake the lubricating mix well.

Lubricate the cables

Fill the lubrication pump with the lubricant mixture previously prepared

Install the lubricating device (2) screwed into the cable (4) cover (1) thread and tighten the nut (3)

 Tighten the nut (3) enough to secure the device.



Install the lubricating pump to the device thread (5)

Pump lubricant mixture until it leaves the top of the cable in the upper shifter

 Wipe off excess lubricant coming out of the cables.

Remove the pump and the device (2)

 Clean any excess lubricant on the bottom part of the cables.



Install

With the upper shifter locked, insert the lock nuts (3) into the covers with the corresponding lock washers

Install the retainers (7) onto the cable (4)

Install new protective hoods (6)

 Secure the hoods at the end of the mounting.

In the gearbox, remove the two ball terminals (8) screwed in the corresponding selection and engagement levers

 See: Remove and install control cables.

 Apply chemical lock to the threads of the ball terminals during the assembly.

Tighten the nuts (9) so that the ball terminals do not be forced in the cable ends

Tighten the nuts (3) normally with the lock washers that regulate and secure the cables onto the support

 Note that the cable is not forced or twisted.

Adjust the protective hoods (6) and secure them using new plastic clamps at the points indicated by the arrow

Remove the locking screw from neutral point at the engage lever (6) in the upper shifter

Connect the negative battery cable or turn on the main switch

 For vehicles equipped with electronic engines, always follow the recommendations for the care that should be taken regarding the electronics of the vehicle.

Return the cab to its normal position and check the assembly operation regarding the selection and engagement of gears

 If necessary, correct the adjustments.
