Inspect cooling system for leaks

Checking

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Open engine hood

Turn the cooling system cap (1) on the radiator half a revolution in counterclockwise direction, release pressure relief, then unscrew cooling system cap (1).

Check coolant level, adjust to correct level if necessary.

 The coolant in the radiator must be filled up to the overflow and must lie between the markings "LOW" and "FULL" in the expansion tank .

Only use approved anticorrosion/antifreeze agents.



Connect pressure pump (3) with adapter card (2) to radiator



Pressurize cooling system

 The test pressure must not exceed

1.4 bar.

If a new cylinder head gasket is fitted, first of all warm up engine to operating temperature before testing cooling system for leaks.

Check coolant hoses and heater hoses and their connecting points for condition and coolant loss

 If necessary, retighten the hose clamps or replace the coolant and heater hoses or hose clamps.

Disconnect the pressure pump (3) with adapter card (2) from the radiator


