Important preliminary information

Always follow the recommended personal safety measures to avoid accidents as well as the environmental protection measures.

1

Place the vehicle on flat and level ground that permits working safely. Chock the rear wheels to avoid the vehicle's unintentional rolling

This in the case there is no appropriate elevator or pit available.

AR40.10-B-1100E

2

Turn-off the master switch

As it deals with electronic vehicles, always follow the recommendations for this type of vehicles.

3

With the vehicle on the ground, slacken the front axle wheel nuts, without removing them, this in the case of not utilizing an appropriate elevator

If utilizing an elevator or pit with appropriate equipment, it is not necessary to remove the wheels to remove the stabilizer.

AR40.10-B-1100E

Danger!

Take due precautions when tilting the cab

Risk of serious accidents.

AS60.80-B-0001-01A

AS60.80-B-0002-01A

4

Tilt the cab to its final tilted position

Secure the cab with the safety equipment.

AR60.80-B-0010D

Danger!

Take due precautions when lifting the vehicle

Risk of serious accidents.

Do not lift the vehicle by the center of the axles.

AS00.00-B-0010-01B

In this type of work it is necessary to support the vehicle by the side rails to be able to slightly move the axle. As a protection measure detach the shock absorbers (3) at the bottom end before supporting the vehicle by the side rails.

AR32.25-B-0105F

5

Support the vehicle by the side rails so the front axle can be moved

6

Should it be necessary, remove the wheels

AR40.10-B-1100E

7

Lower the front axle equally on both sides, so the stabilizer remains without pressure to allow the removal of the lateral arms (8)

8

Remove the flange nuts and bolts (10) at the top articulations on the brackets (9). Remove the flange nuts and bolts (7) at the bottom articulations on the adapters (6) of the stabilizer bar (1) and remove the plates forming the lateral rods (8)

Observe the assembly position of the plates (8) in details (8.1) and (8.2) to be installed later-on in the same position.

9

Remove the flange bolts (5) and the bearing caps(4.1), lift out the front stabilizer bar (1)

As a precaution measure, always mark the caps (4.1) of the respective bearings on each side.

10

Remove the split mounts (4.2) from the housings of each bearing (4) and from the caps (4.1)

Pay attention to the fitting and on the correct position of the split mounts in the body of the bearing and in the cap, to be installed correctly at assembly.

11

Remove the elastic bushings (13) from the adapters (6) at the ends of the stabilizer bar (1)

Utilize an appropriate device or in the absence of this, a vise with protected jaws.

12

Remove the elastic bushing (13) from the bracket (9) attached to the side rail

Should it be necessary, remove the bracket (9) from the side rail.

Utilize an appropriate device or a shop press.

Check

13

Examine all components of the articulations, of the lateral rods and of the stabilizer bar

Replacing:

Lateral rod plates (8) with excessive wear or deformed.

Deformed stabilizer bar (1).

Flange nuts and bolts (7) and (10) of the articulations, if necessary.

Split bushings (4.2) of the bearings (4).

Supports and caps of the bearings (4) and (4.1), should it be necessary.

If necessary, replace the brackets (9) of the lateral rods on the side rails. Apply prime coat before assembly.

14

On the adapters (6) at the ends of the bar, check the chamfered parts, indicated by the arrows. Remove sharp edges on the housing of bushings on the brackets (9)

Installing

15

Install in the adapters (11) of the brackets (9) the new elastic bushings (13) with the already integrated metal bushings (14)

The metal bushings (14) are integrating part of the elastic bushings (13) forming a single part.

Apply a light coating of specified petroleum jelly to facilitate assembly. Only the minimum necessary.

*BR00.45-B-1001-06A

Utilize an appropriate device, a shop press in the case of the brackets (9) were removed, or in a vise with protected jaws.

Observe that the bushings are correctly seated and centered. Thoroughly clean any rests of petroleum jelly.

16

Install the new bushings (13) in the adapters (6) of the stabilizer bar ends

Apply a light coating of specified petroleum jelly to facilitate assembly. Only the minimum necessary.

Utilize an appropriate device or a vise with protected jaws.

Observe that the bushings are correctly seated and centered. Thoroughly clean any rests of petroleum jelly.

17

Install the new split elastic bushings (4.2) in the bearings (4) and in the respective caps (4.1)

Observe the correct position and fitting in the body of the bearing and in the caps.

18

Install the stabilizer bar (1) in the bearings, the caps (4.1) and tighten the flange bolts (5)

Equally tighten the caps on both sides and check that the stabilizer bar is centered in relation to the lateral arms

Apply the specified tightening torque on the bearing cap bolts.

After the final tightening, the bar must turn even if with some difficulty.

*BA32.35-B-1002-02D

19

Assemble the plates (8) according to position (8.1), install the flange bolts and nuts (10) in the top part on the brackets (9)

20

Control the front axle height and install the flange bolts and nuts (7) in the articulations of the rods (8) with the stabilizer bar (1)

21

With the stabilizer bar without exerting pressure, tighten the flange nuts (7) and (10) to the specified tightening torque

*BA32.35-B-1001-02D

22

Install the wheels and tighten them lightly, this in the case they had been removed
