Remove and install

Turn off the main switch or disconnect the battery ground lead

Unscrew the negative lead bolt at the side rail, avoid removal at battery post terminals.

Tilt the engine hood and lock it with the safety rod.

Vehicles with cab 384.0, 694.0, 695.0.

Remove the inside cab engine hood, releasing the side latches

Vehicles with cab 384.0, 688.1, 694.0, 695.0.

Installing: Check the rubber gasket and if necessary, replace it.

Open cab front lid

Vehicles with chassis 688.1, actuate the locking lever under the dashboard, at left side and lift the lid.

2.4

Tilt the cab.

Vehicles with 682, 693 cab.

Remove the pipe from the turbocharger (4)

Only vehicles fitted with charge-air cooler.

Installing: Check the clamps, the hoses and the sealing ring, if necessary, replace them.

Unscrew the bolts (5) attaching the exhaust manifold (1) and remove it

Installing: Tighten the bolts to the specified torque, replacing the gaskets (6) and positioning them correctly.

The fastening of the exhaust manifolds on the engine cylinder head is similar in all models of the series, changing only the outlet configuration due to the presence or not of the turbocharger.
