Remove the oil pipe (8)

Only on vehicles with engine rear power takeoff.

Catch the engine oil.

Installing: Replace the sealing rings (7).

Remove the engine rear power takeoff (1)

Vehicles with code (N52) engine rear power takeoff, 600 Nm torque output,

On code (NJ9), engine rear drive for hydraulic pump, max. 200 Nm

Remove the cover (2) with the gasket (3) in the timing case (6)

Vehicles without engine rear power takeoff

Remove the support (13) with the electric wiring harness (14) on the timing case (6)

Remove the transmission oil pipes (12) on the timing case (6) and cylinder block

Only on vehicles with code (N55), transmission oil cooler.

Remove the ground lead (15), electric wiring harness (16) and parts aggregated in the timing case (6)

Remove the crankshaft position sensor (B15) and remove the wire on the timing case (6)

Installing: With pressure, insert the fastening bushing (5) and the crankshaft position sensor (B15) against stop.

Remove the seal (17)

Installing: Only install the seal (17), when the timing case (6) is installed on the cylinder block.

Remove the timing case (6)

Unscrew the bolt through the opening for the engine power takeoff on the timing case (6).

If necessary, loosen the timing case (6) with a plastic hammer.

Installing: Check the timing case (6) for damages, if necessary replace the timing case (6) and transfer all the components.

Clean the sealing surfaces

Installing: Apply sealing compound.
