Actuate daytime running lights
General
Good visibility conditions for driving a vehicle do not always mean that your vehicle can also be seen easily. In dark alleys, at dusk/dawn or when the sun is low, the visibility of your own vehicle can be impaired. The daytime running lights increase the visibility of your own vehicle and help to avoid accidents.
Function requirements
Engine running or drivetrain operational or terminal 15 ON and vehicle speed over 3 km/h.
Exterior lights switch in "Auto" position
Actuate daytime running lights
The exterior lighting control unit actuates the daytime running lights in the front lamp units independently or their actuation is requested. This takes place depending on the version of the front lamp units (halogen headlamps or LED headlamps). Depending on the vehicle, the control unit for the exterior lighting is either the central signal acquisition and actuation module or the front signal acquisition and actuation module.
On vehicles with Japan version, the standing lights are switched on instead of the daytime running lights.
On vehicles with Japan version or USA version, the function can be switched on and off via the multimedia system.
At dusk/dawn, the rear standing lights on the vehicle (without license plate lighting) are switched on in addition to the daytime running lights. As it gets darker, the low beams are switched on.
