Location
The oil pump in the dual-clutch transmission is located behind the fully integrated transmission control electrohydraulic controller unit.
Task
The oil pump (primary pump) produces the necessary oil pressure and the flow volumes for the hydraulic processes in the dual-clutch transmission. The oil pump is designed as a double-stroke vane-type pump.
The oil pump is driven via a gear pairing at drive end. The driving gearwheel is rigidly connected to the dual clutch. The driven gear is bolted to the oil pump which is located in the transmission housing behind the dual clutch. The rotor of the oil pump consists of vanes which are movable in the radial direction. Due to the rotation of the rotor, the vanes are pressed against the stator by the centrifugal force, forming sickle-shaped chambers. The oval internal contour of the stator increases and reduces the volume in the chambers.
In contrast to single-stroke vane-type pumps, it is not possible to adjust the chamber volumes.
The regulated pressure of the oil pump is in the range from 3.5 bar to 22 bar. The regulated pump pressure is dependent on the actuation by the dual-clutch transmission control unit or the fully integrated transmission control electrohydraulic controller unit.
