Signal assignment engine 111
1 Crank angle
2 Cylinder ignition TDC
3 Signal of crankshaft position sensor (L5)
4 Signal of camshaft Hall sensor (B6/1)
5 Speed signal TNA
When the crankshaft is rotating, an alternating voltage is generated in the crankshaft position sensor by the teeth of the driven plate. In this case, each tooth generates an alternating voltage signal.
No voltage is generated as a result of the gap created by 2 missing teeth. The engine control module detects the TDC position of cylinders 1 and 4 with the 2nd negative slope after the gap.

Signal assignment engine 166
1 Crank angle
2 Cylinder ignition TDC
3 Signal of crankshaft position sensor (L5)
4 Signal of camshaft Hall sensor (B6/1)
5 Speed signal TNA
If, at this moment, the signal from the camshaft Hall sensor is at
0 volt ("low"), the engine control module processes this in order to detect ignition TDC of cylinder 1.
The synchronization of the fuel injection and firing order undergoes further processing by the engine control module for actuating the ignition coils and injectors. In addition, it is required for the knock sensor system and for the fuel shutoff at individual cylinders.
If no signal is received from the camshaft Hall sensor, the engine control module determines the ignition TDC of cylinder 1 at random. The engine starts about 1 second later.
