Task
Actuating fuel pump in the event of:
Ignition ON: actuating the fuel pump for about 1 s as a full running protection (audible). An engine start should be effected, however, before repeated actuation of the fuel pump.
Starting on the basis of first signals from the crankshaft position sensor
Engine running on the basis of engine speed signal TN
Design / function
The fuel pump is actuated through the following relays:
- Model 124, 129, 140, 202, 208 fuel pump relay
- Model 163, 170, 210 relay module (fuel pump relay integrated)
The relay is actuated by a ground signal from the engine control module. When the contact is closed, the fuel pump (M3) is linked through circuit 87 to circuit 30 (B+).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Circuit 30 is protected by a 30 A fuse. On model 124, 129, 140, 202, 208 the fuse is mounted on the fuel pump relay.
If the fuel pump does not run, first of all check the fuses at the overvoltage protection relay (K1/2), base module (N16/1), relay module (K40) or at the fuse and relay module (K40/4) or (F1), respectively, for the voltage supply of engine control module, and also the fuse of the fuel pump.
Inspect cable connections of fuel pump for corrosion.
