 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Remove low and high-pressure line from expansion valve.

Carefully open cap on coolant expansion reservoir, release pressure and close cap again.

Clamp off coolant hoses (11) at suitable points.

 Clamp

Detach coolant hoses (11) from heat exchanger and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.

 Collect escaping coolant in a suitable container.

 Installation: Replace clamps (12).

Seal connections of heat exchanger with stop plugs.

 Record plug

Remove crossmember under instrument panel.

Disconnect electrical connectors (2, 16) from climate control control unit (N22/1).

Disconnect electrical connector (3) from electronic blower regulator (N29).

Extend center air ducts (4) at air conditioner housing (1).

Extend front footwell air ducts (5) at air conditioner housing (1).

Carefully remove air conditioner housing (1) and take off towards passenger side.

 Installation:
Ensure correct seating of the seal (6) between the recess (7) in the air conditioner housing (1) and the condensation drain (8).
Otherwise condensation may get into the vehicle interior.

 Helper required.

 Installation: Make sure that the bolts (9) are seated in the guides (10).

Install in the reverse order.



Check

Check coolant level.



Perform bleeding routine for auxiliary circuit coolant using diagnostic device.


