2 | Rear engine mount nuts | 4 | Transmission bracket bolts | 7 | Rear engine mount spacer |
The level change of the transfer case not only changes the articulation angle of the front axle differential relative to the front propeller shaft (K 1) and the articulation angle of the front propeller shaft relative to the transfer case ( K2), but also the articulation angle of the transfer case relative to the rear propeller shaft at front ( K3) and the articulation angle of the rear propeller shaft at front relative to the rear propeller shaft at rear ( K4).
Therefore a complete check measurement must always be carried out after an articulation angle correction.
1 | Remove transmission bracket screws (4) from transmission bracket (3). |
2 | Support transfer case using telescopic lifter and transmission plate. |
3 | Unscrew nuts on rear engine mount (2) and screws of transmission bracket (1), remove transmission bracket (3). |
4.1 | If the articulation angle of the front axle differential relative to the front propeller shaft ( K1) should be larger and the articulation angle of the front propeller shaft relative to the transfer case ( K2) should be smaller: |
For each 1 mm sheet thickness, the articulation angle of the front axle differential relative to the front propeller shaft ( K1) is increased by approx. 0.10°, while the articulation angle of the front propeller shaft relative to the transfer case ( K2) is reduced by approx. 0.11°. |
With a spacer thickness of more than 2 mm, the screw length of the screws of the transmission bracket (1) must be extended by 5 mm. |
If spacers more than 5 mm thick are required, the front and rear engine mounts must be checked for signs of settling or wear and replaced if necessary. |
4.2 | If the articulation angle of the front axle differential relative to the front propeller shaft ( K1) should be smaller and the articulation angle of the front propeller shaft relative to the transfer case ( K2) should be larger: |
For each 1 mm of sheet thickness, the articulation angle of the front axle differential relative to the front propeller shaft ( K1) is reduced by approx. 0.10°, while the articulation angle of the front propeller shaft relative to the transfer case ( K2) is increased by approx. 0.11°. |
For a spacer thickness of more than 2 mm, the screw length of the screws for the rear engine mount nuts (2) must be extended by 5 mm. |
If spacers more than 5 mm thick are required, the front and rear engine mounts must be checked for signs of settling or wear and replaced if necessary. |
5 | Insert transmission bracket spacer (6) between frame floor assembly and transmission bracket (3) or rear engine mount spacer (7) between rear engine mount and transmission bracket (3) and install transmission bracket (3). Tighten transmission bracket screws (1) and rear engine mount nuts (2) . |
6 | Remove telescopic lifter and transmission plate. |
7 | Tighten transmission bracket screws (4) . |
