Select the menu item "SBC-Sensotronic Brake Control"/"Initial startup after repair"/"Deactivate 'SBC' system". Then process all the individual steps from top to bottom.



Detach the rear propeller shaft (106) from the rear axle differential (50)

 Flex disk remains on propeller shaft.

Loosen fitted sleeves of flexible coupling at flange (41) of rear axle center assembly (50)

If the fitted sleeves are jammed: 

Prepare drift for loosening fitted sleeves in flexible couplings.

Remove bolts from propeller shaft intermediate bearing (106a) and remove rear propeller shaft (106).

 Installation: Assemble propeller shaft in correct position. Do not tighten the bolts of the propeller shaft center support bearing until you have secured the flexible coupling to the rear axle differential (50).

Connect sections of propeller shaft.

Unscrew hexagon collar nut (40)

 Do not remove the collar protection when slackening hexagon collar nut.



 For better control when loosening the hexagon-collar nut press a shop-made bushing into the commercially available socket:

 Installation: Replace hexagon collar nut and tighten in stages until the previously measured friction torque is obtained.

 Installation: Secure hexagon collar nut on flange (41):

Pull off flange (41)

 If necessary  use puller.



Use a suitable tool to lever radial sealing ring (42) out of rear axle differential (50)

 To ensure leaktightness and proper seating, do not damage the seat surface of the radial sealing ring.

 Installation: Replace radial sealing ring, coat sealing lip with universal hypoid gear oil and press into rear axle center assembly using  drift.



Check oil level in rear axle differential (50) and correct if necessary.

 In order to avoid damage to the rear axle center assembly, it is absolutely essential to follow the work procedure and the Specifications for Operating Fluids.
