Remove bell hub with left and right rear axle shaft

Remove interaxle differential lock plug (10)

Remove interaxle differential lock compressed air line (8)

Detach compressed air line from differential lock shift cylinder (3)

 With differential lock only.

Unscrew bolt (1) for mechanical locking of differential lock from differential lock shift cylinder (3)

 Only with differential lock and 233 mm dia. ring gear.

Remove differential lock shift cylinder (3)

 Only with differential lock and 233 mm dia. ring gear.

Remove propeller shaft

 Only detach propeller shaft from differential assembly and support propeller shaft.

Remove through-drive shaft

Undo bolts (7) on the differential assembly (6) and remove the differential assembly (6)

 Before unscrewing the last two bolts (7) the differential assembly (6) must be securely lashed to the inspection pit lift, as otherwise the differential assembly (6) may drop in an uncontrolled manner from the axle housing.



Install

Install differential lock shift cylinder (3) and mechanically lock the differential lock using bolt (1)

 Only with differential lock and 233 mm dia. ring gear.

Clean sealing surfaces on axle housing and on differential assembly (6) and coat with sealant

Mount differential assembly (6) onto inspection pit lift

 The differential assembly (6) must be securely lashed onto the inspection pit lift, as otherwise the differential assembly (6) cannot be installed in a controlled manner.

Install bell hub with left and right rear axle shaft

Unscrew bolt (1) for mechanical locking of differential lock from differential lock shift cylinder (3)

 Only with differential lock and 233 mm dia. ring gear.

Remove differential lock shift cylinder (3) again

 Only with differential lock and 233 mm dia. ring gear.

Tighten the 2 differential assembly (6) bolts (7) in the area of the differential lock shift cylinder (3)

Install shaft of through-drive

Install differential lock shift cylinder (3) with new sealing

 Only with differential lock and 233 mm dia. ring gear.

Coat new sealing ring (5) and piston (4) with synthetic grease.

Screw differential lock pressure switch with new sealing ring into differential lock shift cylinder (3) and fit plug

 With differential lock only.

Mount compressed air line with new sealing rings onto differential lock shift cylinder (3)

 With differential lock only.

Install interaxle differential lock compressed-air line (8) with new sealing rings (9)

Mount interaxle differential lock plug (10)

Install propeller shaft
