Remove

1

Drain oil from through-drive (2)

Detach all electrical connections from through-drive (2)

Mechanically lock axle differential

Remove both rear axle shafts (7)

Remove drive shaft only from drive flange (1) of through drive (2)

 Secure drive shaft using tensioning straps against falling down.

Remove axle through drive (2)


Before removing the last two bolts (3) the through drive (2) must be securely lashed to the inspection pit lift.
Otherwise the through drive (2) may drop out of the axle housing (5) in an uncontrolled manner.



Install

Clean sealing surfaces on through drive (5) and axle housing (2) thoroughly and coat with sealant

Install through drive (2)

 While doing so the output shaft (4) must engage into the driven gear longitudinal equalization.

Mount drive shaft onto drive flange (1) of through drive (2)

Clean sealing surfaces on both wheel hubs (6) and both rear axle shafts (4) thoroughly and coat with sealant

Install both rear axle shafts (4)

 Rear axle shaft to wheel hub

Mechanically release axle differential

Mount compressed air lines to interaxle and interwheel differential lock

Connect all electrical connections to through drive

Add oil to through drive

 Tighten drain screw on through drive (2) and on axle housing (5), add oil and tighten filling screw on through drive (2).
