Remove/install

1

Remove respective brake disk (11) from rear axle.

Remove rear brake cable (8).

Except code B25 (Electric parking brake)

 Do not remove brake cable (8) from brake compensator lever and crossmember.

Remove left rear rpm sensor (L6/3) or right rear rpm sensor (L6/4).

Remove bolts (1).

 Installation: Replace screw/bolts (1).

 Bolt, rear axle shaft to axle tube flange

Remove rear axle shaft (5) from rear axle tube (2).

 Installation:
Observe installation position of the oil deflector (18). The water drain channel (arrow) must face downwards.
Otherwise the oil cannot drain off.

If installation position of oil deflector (18) is incorrect,



Rectify the installation position.

Remove brake cover plate (20).

 Check brake cover plate (20) for condition and damage.

If there is a problem with the brake cover plate (20),



replace brake cover plate (20).



Clean

Clean faces on rear axle shaft (5) and rear axle tube (2).

 Installation:
The faces on the rear axle shaft (5) and rear axle tube (2) must be dry and free of corrosion and grease.
Otherwise damage will occur.

Loctite 7063 (400 ml) cleaning spray

Install in the reverse order.



Check

Check brake system for proper operation.



Check oil level in rear axle differential.



If oil level is incorrect,



Correct oil level.

Check rear axle for leak tightness.
