Remove

Position vehicle centrally on a drive-on lifting platform or over a pit

Deactivate air suspension

Lift/jack up vehicle

Secure rear axle using major assembly mount and mounting plate



 Position major assembly mount and mounting plate in center of rear axle.

Remove bolt (7) and swivel control arm (1) downwards

 Counterhold nut (6).

Pull out cotter pin (4)

Unscrew castle nut (5)

Press ball joint (2) off carrier plate (3) using puller and remove

 Before pressing off the control arm (1), secure it to prevent it from falling down.

Check

Check elastomer bearing of control arm (1)

When reusing control arm (1).

If the elastomer bearing is damaged or worn



Replace elastomer bearings on control arm (1).

Check ball joint (2)

When reusing control arm (1).

If the ball joint (2) is damaged or worn



Replace ball joint (2).

Install

Adjust new control arm (1) to length of old control arm (1)

When replacing the control arm (1).

Screw in castle nut (5)

 Castle nut, bar link ball joint to lower carrier plate

Fit cotter pin (4)

 Replace cotter pin (4).

Swivel control arm (1) upwards and loosely screw-in bolt (7)

Remove telescopic lifter from rear axle

Lower vehicle

Tighten bolt (7)

 Counterhold nut (6).

 Bar link to body crossmember

Activate air suspension
