1 | Remove propeller shaft at differential assembly | Support propeller shaft. | |
2 | Lock differential lock manually | ||
3 | Remove right and left front axle input shaft | ||
4 | Detach temperature sensor plug (1) | Only with maintenance system (WS). | |
5 | Detach compressed-air line (10) | ||
6 | Unscrew bolt (9) | ||
7 | Remove cover (7) | ||
8 | Remove two bolts (3) at cover (7) | The two bolts (3) are not accessible with the cover (7) attached. | |
9 | Reinstall cover (7) | ||
10 | Screw in bolt (9) again | This mechanically locks the differential lock. | |
11 | Attach removal and installation device to the differential assembly (2) and insert into the support of the inspection pit lift | It is absolutely essential to use the removal and installation device otherwise the differential assembly will fall out of the axle housing in an uncontrolled manner. | |
12 | Remove differential assembly (2) | Unscrew the remaining bolts (3) and remove the differential assembly. | |
13 | Lift the differential assembly (2) out of the support of the inspection pit lift and detach the removal and installation device | ||

14 | Attach removal and installation device to the differential assembly (2) and insert into the support of the inspection pit lift | The differential lock must be mechanically locked. | |
It is absolutely essential to use the removal and installation device otherwise the differential assembly (2) will fall out of the axle housing in an uncontrolled manner. | |||
15 | Clean sealing surfaces on axle housing and on differential assembly (2) and coat with sealant | ||
16 | Insert differential assembly (2) into the axle housing and screw in 4 opposed bolts (3) | This prevents the differential assembly (2) from falling out. | |
17 | Detach removal and installation device and screw in the remaining bolts on the circumference of the differential assembly (2) | The two bolts (3) at the cover (7) are installed in operation step 19. | |

18 | Unscrew bolt (9) and detach cover (7) | ||
19 | Tighten both bolts (3) of differential assembly (2) at cover (7) | The two bolts (3) are not accessible with the cover (7) attached. | |

20 | Install cover (7) with new gasket (6) | Install gasket (6) with the raised bead towards the cover (7). | |

21 | Screw in bolt (9) | The differential lock is locked mechanically. | |
22 | Install compressed-air line (10) with new sealing rings (5) | ||
23 | Install temperature sensor plug (1) | Only with maintenance system (WS). | |
24 | Install right and left front axle input shaft | ||
25 | Mechanically unlock differential lock | ||
26 | Install propeller shaft |
