Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.

Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.

Vehicles with Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC)

 The following steps should be run through in STAR DIAGNOSIS:

Select the menu item "SBC-Sensotronic Brake Control"/"Initial startup after repair"/"Deactivate 'SBC' system".

Then process all the individual steps from top to bottom.



Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory

Remove front wheel



Remove/install wheels

Turn in wheel bolt (48a) opposite brake disk locking bolt (9f)

 To immobilize brake rotor.

Press brake pads back into brake caliper

Pull off hub cap (9e)



Check and adjust

Set up wheel bearing

 To do this, slacken hexagon socket head screw (9i) and lightly tighten clamping nut (9d) whilst rotating the wheel hub. Then turn clamping nut (9d) back until play is noticeable.

 Attach dial indicator (022) with  dial indicator holder (015)



Adjust wheel bearing play by turning (arrow) the clamping nut (9d) in stages while pushing and pulling the brake disk firmly back and forth.

 Do not twist or tilt the wheel hub during the measurement. Correct measurement is only possible by pulling and pushing parallel to the wheel axle.

 Incorrect measurement will result in the set wheel bearing play being too small. This can then lead to wheel bearing damage.

Tighten the Allen bolt (9i), check the wheel bearing end float again

 Detach dial indicator (022) with  dial indicator holder (015)



Install

Fill hub cap (9e) with high-temperature roller bearing grease



Undo wheel bolt (48a) opposite brake disk locking bolt (9f)

Mount front wheel



Remove/install wheels

Before starting engine, actuate brake pedal several times until the pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.

Press the brake pedal several times until the brake pads contact the brake disks

Vehicles without Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC)

 Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.

Activate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS

Vehicles with Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC)

 The following steps should be run through in STAR DIAGNOSIS:

Select menu item "Initial startup after repair"/"After replacing brake pads".

Then process all the individual steps from top to bottom.



Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
