Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Remove/install

Jack up vehicle.

 Do not lift vehicle yet.

Fix steering wheel in center position.

Remove screw (1) of universal joint.

 Installation: Replace bolt (1).

 Bolt, universal joint to steering gear

Remove universal joint from steering gear.

 To do so, press pilot bushing of bolt (1) in direction of arrow and detach universal joint.

 Installation: The universal joint can only be reconnected to the steering gear in one position. To do so, press the pilot bushing of the screw/bolt (1) back into the installation position. Make sure that the universal joint is installed correctly.

If necessary,



Move front wheels to straight-ahead position.

Remove front wheels.

Remove torsion bar linkage of stabilizer bar from respective suspension strut.

Remove transverse control arms from steering knuckles.

Remove respective ball head of tie rods from steering knuckles.

Remove bottom engine compartment paneling.

Remove engine stabilizer mount.

Remove front sections of fender liners in front fenders from front axle carrier (5).

Remove screws (2) of exhaust system bracket.

Remove screws (13) of bracket for control units.

Remove screw (14) of cover for brake and fuel lines.

If cover of brake and fuel lines is installed.

Remove heat shield (3) from rear crossmember (4).

 To do so, unlock the quick-release fasteners of the heat shield (3) on the rear cross member (4), and unclip the brackets of the brake line.

Remove electric lines (6) of rpm sensors from transverse control arms.

Remove bolts_(7).

 Bolt, rear crossmember to longitudinal frame member

Remove rear cross member (4).

 To do so, remove screws (8).

 Bolt, front axle carrier to longitudinal frame member

Unscrew nuts (9).

Also remove the brackets (11).

 Bolt, front axle carrier to longitudinal frame member

Detach electric wiring harness (12) from bracket on steering gear.

Remove front axle carrier (5).

 Aid of helper required.

Install in the reverse order.

Perform chassis alignment.

If chassis, suspension or steering components have been replaced.
