 Danger

Risk of death from lowering vehicle when working between wheels and body. Risk of injury from pinching or crushing when working on the air suspension.

Testing and repair work between the wheel and wheel arch or in the wheel well should only be performed if the vehicle is secured using suitable support fixtures to prevent it from lowering.
Adjustment operations should only be performed from underneath the vehicle.
Use only suitable support fixtures to secure the vehicle frame or vehicle axles in order to prevent them from lowering.
If necessary, additionally use suitable support fixtures in order to prevent other moving vehicle parts that are in the working area from lowering, or use suitable retaining devices to prevent these parts from moving suddenly and without warning.
Secure areas with moving vehicle parts against unauthorized access.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Empty air suspension.

Remove respective screw (4).

Remove nut (5).

Remove compressed-air line (2).

Remove air suspension bellows (1).

 To do so, turn air suspension bellows (1) through 90 °.



Check

Check air suspension bellows (1) for damage.

If damage is present,



Replace air suspension bellows (1).



Clean

Clean contact surfaces of air suspension bellows (1).

Install

Install compressed-air line (2).

Install air suspension bellows (1).


The air suspension bellows (1) must not be installed twisted.
Otherwise, damage can occur to the air suspension bellows (1).


Make sure that the compressed-air line (2) is routed correctly.
Otherwise, the compressed-air line (2) may be damaged.

 To do so, insert air suspension bellows (1) into crossmember (3) and turn up to end stop (arrows) in crossmember (3).

Screw in screw (4) lightly by hand.

Attach nut (5).

Lower vehicle far enough until the wheels make contact with the floor.

Fill air suspension with compressed air.

Tighten screw (4).

Tighten nut (5).

Check air suspension for leak tightness.
