Remove engine compartment encapsulation underneath transmission

Remove passenger seats above transmission maintenance flap.

Remove transmission maintenance flap.

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.

Drain coolant

Catch coolant with suitable vessel.

Installation: Replace sealing ring. Top up coolant (pour in same quantity as that drained) and check filling capacity. Replace coolant if necessary.

Drain transmission oil from oil cooler and transmission.

Catch transmission oil with suitable vessel.

Installation: Screw the drain plug back in. Top up transmission oil (pour in same quantity as that drained) and check filling capacity.

Remove oil pipe (4) and oil cooler (1) for automatic transmission oil cooling

Remove remaining oil from oil cooler.

The oil cooler is removed together with the oil pipes and transmission housing connecting piece.

Installation: replace gaskets and O-rings, grease with Vaseline if necessary.

Install in the reverse order

Inspect

Engine cooling system - inspect fluid level, adjust to correct level. Inspect anticorrosion/ antifreeze protection, adjust to correct concentration
