Conduct a road test

The transmission oil must be at operating temperature to check the oil level.

Park vehicle on a horizontal surface

Apply parking brake and shift transmission to neutral position



Checking

Check transmission for leaks

 If there is a large oil loss, determine cause and remedy subject to separate repair order.

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine

Open maintenance flap covering transmission

Open cap and pull oil dipstick out of oil filler pipe

 Wipe off oil dipstick with a lint-free rag.

Insert oil dipstick up to the stop in the oil filler pipe, pull out again and read off oil level

 With a transmission oil temperature of approx. 30 °C, the transmission oil must be in cold measuring range (B). With a transmission oil temperature of approx.
80 °C, the transmission oil must be in hot measuring range (A).

Correct the oil level if necessary

 Pour in transmission oil using a funnel. Suction off excess transmission oil that is poured in or drain at oil drain screw. An incorrect oil quantity impairs the correct functioning of the transmission.

 Only use approved oils.


