Remove/install oil pump from transmission housing

 Caution

Risk of injury to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.

Removal and installation tool

Knurled nut

Screw stud bolt M8 (07) and stud bolt M6 (08) of  removal and installation tool (11) into torque converter housing (1) as shown.

Install thrust piece (05) in collet (02) and secure with clamping sleeve (04).

Attach clamping sleeve (04), collet (02) and thrust piece (05) to spindle (03).

Attach bridge (01) together with spindle (03), clamping sleeve (04), collet (02), thrust piece (05) to stud bolt M8 (07) and stud bolt M6 (08).

Tighten knurled nuts (12).

Place thrust piece (05) at oil pump (10) by turning the spindle (03).

 Make sure that the thrust piece (05) is correctly seated.
Otherwise the oil pump (10) may be damaged.

Press oil pump (10) downward up to end stop by turning spindle (03).

Remove snap ring (13).

Loosen thrust piece (05) from oil pump (10) by turning spindle (03) until the thrust piece (05) can be removed.

Unlock spring pin (04) and remove thrust piece (05) out of clamping pliers (02).

Place collet (02) on drive of oil pump (10) by turning the spindle (03) and secure with clamping sleeve (04).

 Check collet (02) is correctly seated.
Otherwise the oil pump (10) may be damaged.

Pull out oil pump (10) from outer plate carrier by turning spindle (03).

Loosen knurled nuts (12) and remove bridge (01), together with spindle (03), clamping sleeve (04), collet (02), oil pump (10), from stud bolt M8 (07) and from stud bolt M6 (08).

Unlock clamping sleeve (04) and pull out oil pump (10) from collet (02).

Install oil pump (10) in outer plate carrier.

 The markings (arrow) on the oil pump (10) and on the outer plate carrier must face towards each other when being assembled.

Install thrust piece (05) in collet (02) and secure with clamping sleeve (04).

Attach clamping sleeve (04), collet (02) and thrust piece (05) to spindle (03).

Attach bridge (01) together with spindle (03), clamping sleeve (04), collet (02), thrust piece (05) to stud bolt M8 (07) and stud bolt M6 (08).

Tighten knurled nuts (12).

Place thrust piece (05) at oil pump (10) by turning the spindle (03).

 Make sure that the thrust piece (05) is correctly seated.
Otherwise the oil pump (10) may be damaged.

Press oil pump (10) downward up to end stop by turning spindle (03).

Install snap ring (13).

Release thrust piece (05) from the oil pump (10) by turning the spindle (03).

Loosen knurled nuts (12) and remove bridge (01), together with spindle (03), clamping sleeve (04), collet (02), thrust piece (05), from stud bolt M8 (07) and from stud bolt M6 (08).

Unscrew stud bolt M8 (07) and stud bolt M6 (08) of  removal and installation tool (11) from torque converter housing (1).
