Loosen bolts (2) of coolant pump belt pulley.



Remove poly-V belt

Unbolt belt pulley (5)

 The solenoid carrier (343) on engines with fan clutch solenoid must not be removed. Glue in loose solenoid carriers with adhesive.

Disconnect coolant hose (3) and heater hose (4) on coolant pump housing

Remove generator (15)

Remove alternator carrier (16)



Remove coolant pump housing (11) together with coolant pump

 Detach coolant pump housing when removing the heater return line (18).

 Installation: Moisten sealing ring (17) with coolant, do not use oil.



Replace seal (14), clean sealing surfaces

Unscrew coolant pump (6)

 A coolant pump with an increased flow rate is installed as of 11/1995 on engine 603.960/971

Replace seal (10), clean sealing surfaces
