Inspect cooling system for leaks

Inspecting

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.

Open cap (2) at expansion reservoir (1)

 Turn in anti-clockwise direction 1/2 turn, release pressure, and then unscrew cap (2).

Set heating switches to maximum heating capacity

Inspect coolant level

Correct if necessary.

Fit on test cap (3) at coolant expansion reservoir (1)



Connect tester (4)

Pressurize cooling system

 If new cylinder head gasket: Test cooling system for leaks once the engine has reached normal operating temperature.
Pressure approx. 1.4 bar.

Inspect condition of cooling and heating hoses and connection points and also for loss of coolant; inspect condition and attachment of hose clamps

 If leaks are present:
Replace hose clamps.
Replace coolant hoses.
