Remove/install

1

Remove voltage of high-voltage on-board electrical system.

Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery.

Remove the coolant thermostat.

Remove high-voltage plug (1) from electric refrigerant compressor.

Release high-voltage line (3) from clamps (2) and place to one side.

Remove cover cap (4).

Remove nuts (7, 8).

Place electric line for circuit 30 (5) and electric line for circuit 50 (6) to one side.

Remove screw (11), unclip ground line (10) from automatic transmission, and remove.

 Bolt, ground line to transmission housing

Unscrew screws (9) and remove starter (M1).

 Bolt, starter to crankcase/transmission

Check

Check pinion of starter (M1) for damage and wear.

If the starter (M1) continues to be used.

If there is a problem,



Replace starter (M1).

Turn engine at center bolt of crankshaft in direction of engine rotation; in this connection, check ring gear at drive plate for damage and wear.

If there is a problem,



replace die drive plate.
